This film was shot with a 1.4 to 1 shooting ratio on film and financed with a credit card 22 years ago at a time when there were no film funds in South Africa. The actors and all involved were not really professional and everybody gave up 4 days to shoot the entire film. The music was kindly composed free of charge for the film. However I take your points.
Tim holds Dave, the man that he loved in school when they were teenagers, captive in a motel room - the same man who as a boy betrayed and humiliated him. About the plot: What makes this short compelling is its ability to cover complex psychological themes. This short film explores a period over six days of the tense psychological abusive relationship between a gay man and his childhood bully. It shows how abuse in childhood can contribute such a destructive impact on their victims lives. By having the actor who portrays the bully completely nude from start to finish the scripts ability in a short time frame establishes the reversed vulnerability of the characters. By the sixth day and last act of the short film he finds his life in the hands of the man he tormented in childhood. Some curiosity: This short gay movie was recorded in South Africa, both actors were young art students. David acted in several other movies like District 9, but I couldn’t find anything else about Gerrie. Too bad, he’s cute, don’t you think?
